Two world standings
As of the 24 Heures Motos, the first round of the 2021 FIM EWC, two distinct world standings will be drawn up for teams and manufacturers: the FIM EWC world championship standings for Formula EWC teams and the FIM Endurance World Cup standings for Superstock teams.
At the end of the season, two rider standings tables will be drawn up in these two categories, taking into account the team standings for riders having participated in at least 75% of all the races held during the season.
8 hours to 24 hours
The 2021 FIM EWC races will be held over a duration of 8 hours, 12 hours, or 24 hours. All the races take place partly at night.
The starting grid position are determined based on the average of the best lap times recorded by a team’s riders (except for back-up riders) during the qualifying sessions.
In order to qualify for the race, a rider must post a lap time equal to at least 108% of the time recorded by the fastest rider in his group. This minimum qualifying time is the same for all race categories. It is a safety measure aimed at bringing together a group of riders with homogeneous performance on the track.
Two or three riders
Teams may enter two or three riders for 8-hour to 24-hour races. For 24-hour races, a 4th back-up rider participates in the practice sessions, but only 3 riders can take part in the race.
Minimum age: 18 years
Riders taking part in the FIM EWC Championship and World Cup must be at least 18 years old.
Armbands and transponders
Each rider is allocated a pair of coloured retro-reflective armbands to be recognized on the track. One of the armbands is equipped with a rider’s transponder. It must be worn from free practice onwards. The motorcycle is also equipped with a transponder, which makes it possible to establish at all times which rider is out on track on the machine.
As of 1 January 2020, riders must be equipped with a helmet approved by the FIM as part of the FIM Racing Homologation Programme.

All of a rider’s equipment—helmet, leathers, boots, gloves and back protector—is inspected by the technical steward before every race.
All the lights of the motorcycles must be switched on during the practice sessions and the race, whether by day or by night (except during refuelling). Formula EWC machines emit a white light beam and Superstock machines emit a yellow light beam.
Electroluminescent race numbers
The race number on each rider’s number plate is electroluminescent to make the machines easy to identify at night.
105 dB maximum
The maximum noise limit for both Formula EWC and Superstock machines may not exceed 105 dB (with a 4 dB tolerance at the end of a race).
168 kg is the minimum required weight (without the fuel tank) for Formula EWC or Superstock motorcycles during preliminary and post-race checks.
175 kg is the minimum required weight for Formula EWC or Superstock motorcycles during practice sessions.
Four people at a refuelling stop
During a race, when a rider makes a pit stop in the pit lane, only four people are allowed to work on the machine to change tyres, fix any mechanical issues or refuel. Refuelling must be the last intervention before the motorcycle returns to the track.
For mechanical operations requiring more than four people, the motorcycle must be taken inside the pit box.
60 km/h max in the pit lane
There is a speed limit of 60 km/h in the pit lane during practice as well as during the race. A €150 fine will be issued in case of infraction of the speed limit during practice. During the race, a 30-second Stop & Go penalty is applied to any rider exceeding the speed limit.
To be included in the results, a team must have completed 75% of the laps carried out by the winner in their class. They must also have crossed the finish line on the race track after the race winner within 5 minutes.
