Independent teams are the beating heart of the Endurance championship. To shore up private teams who do not benefit from direct support from manufacturers, Eurosport Events, the organizers of each world championship race and Dunlop have created the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy.

25 Formula EWC and Superstock teams are entered in the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy. These independent teams using Dunlop tyres will fight it out in a race within the race, with significant amounts of prize money awarded to the winners.

This season, during the FIM EWC 2016 races, an overall €300,000 worth of prize money will be awarded to teams under contract with the Dunlop Independent Trophy, including €80,000 for the first 20 teams past the chequered black and white flag at the 24 Heures Motos at 3pm on Sunday.

A prize of €13,000 will be awarded to the winner of the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy. A sum of €11,000 will go to the runner-up; €9,000 to the team in third place, and so on in decreasing order, with €1,500 awarded to the teams placing 15th to 20th.
