Several developments and a drama shook up the order of the race’s leading pack early this morning on the Paul Ricard circuit. Team Kawasaki SRC is the current frontrunner, with a two-lap lead over GMT94 Yamaha and SERT five laps behind.

Team Kawasaki SRC is hanging on to the lead it wrested by incessantly attacking all night despite a broken chain. Gilles Stafler’s team is also making the most of the upsets that affected its nearest rivals early this morning. Honda Endurance Racing, which was leading the race during the night, has just retired because of an overheating problem, and BMW Motorrad France Team Penz13. com had a slowdown after a broken chain. Which pretty much leaves the field open for the Kawasaki factory team.

But Gregory Leblanc, Matthieu Lagrive and Fabien Foret are not slacking off, because after dropping back to the tail end of the classification following a crash at the start of the race, the GMT94 Yamaha has come back with a vengeance and gone on the attack to close the two-lap gap separating it from the leader. The three riders will also have to watch out for the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, back on circuit and currently in third place. SERT had earlier lost its top spot following a rear wheel axle and shock absorber problem.

Behind these three factory teams battling for victory, the first Superstock machines are putting on a fine show. Tati Team Beaujolais Racing is defending its chance to be victor in the category against Team Traqueur Louit Moto 33 and thereby scoop the 2015 Endurance World Cup.
