AN INCREDIBLE SIGHT IN THE STREETS OF PORTIMÃO!
The parade by FIM EWC teams to kick off the 12 Horas de Portimão – the first of its kind – was a huge success.
The first feat the competing teams achieved in Portugal was to ride from the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve to the town centre of Portimão. Fans can relive the excitement of this (highly unusual) foray outside the circuit on Facebook. After being welcomed by the town’s mayor, the 30 machines entered for the second round of the FIM EWC championship roared into the square in front of the Municipal Theatre of Portimão in the late afternoon.
Following this touristic jaunt, the bikes will be back on their customary route Thursday morning at 9am local time (GMT+1), when free practice starts on the circuit. The first qualifying gets underway at 1pm Thursday.
