Moto Ain CRT turned in a fantastic performance at the just-concluded Bol d’Or, the opening round of both the FIM EWC 2016/2017 championship and Season 2 of the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy. Sixth past the finish line at the Bol d’Or and winner of the Superstock class, Moto Ain CRT also carried off the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy, earning €5,000 in prize money. The team finished ahead of Tati Team Beaujolais Racing and Völpker NRT48 Schubert Motors.
Suzuki Endurance Racing Team pulled off a superb win with a 10-lap lead over Team SRC Kawasaki and Japanese team Trick Star Racing – who made a brilliant debut at the Bol d’Or. Fellow-Japanese team F.C.C. TSR Honda finished 5th.
The top Superstock bikes are revving things up at the Bol d’Or. Three Superstock teams – Moto Ain, Tati Team Beaujolais Racing and Team 3Art Yam’Avenue – are holding tight to their spots in the top 10, while three others have slipped into the top 15.
SERT is still the front-runner 16 hours into the Bol d’Or. The amazing Japanese team Trick Star Racing’s Kawasaki is running 2nd ahead of Team Kawasaki SRC, which has managed a great catch-up after a wheel axle problem.
Suzuki Endurance Racing Team took the lead in the first few laps, and has stayed in control ever since on the Paul Ricard circuit, ahead of Team SRC Kawasaki and YART Yamaha Official EWC Team. Bonus points are awarded to the top 10 teams 8 hours into the race.
The Bol d’Or race got off to a totally crazy start. At 6pm, SERT was leading Team Kawasaki SRC and Honda Endurance Racing. The race start was delayed due to a crash in the warm-up lap.
YART Yamaha Official EWC Team was fastest in this morning’s warm-up at the Bol d’Or, ahead of pole sitter GMT94 Yamaha and Suzuki Endurance Racing Team.
An all-female squad has qualified in 39th place, riding a Yamaha: the Girls Racing Team. Muriel Simorre, Melissa Paris and Jolanda Van Westernen will be on the Bol d’Or starting grid at 3pm today.
Twenty-three teams will be competing for the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy at the Bol d’Or this coming weekend at the Paul Ricard circuit in Castellet. A €5,000 purse awaits the trophy winner at the finish of the Bol d’Or at 3pm on Sunday.
Rainy weather kept yesterday’s positions on the Bol d’Or starting grid unchanged. GMT94 Yamaha, Suzuki Endurance Racing Team and SRC Kawasaki will line up next to each other for the race start at 3pm on the Paul Ricard circuit.
