The 8 Hours of Sepang winner YART Yamaha and BMW Motorrad World Endurance made a handsome profit in Malaysia, but Suzuki Endurance Racing Team held on to top spot in the 2019-2020 FIM EWC standings.
National Motos have taken their first EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy win. The French Honda-mounted team earned the €4,000 prize for the Dunlop Trophy winner at the first edition of the 8 Hours of Sepang in Malaysia. National Motos finished ahead of RAC 41 and Tati Team Beaujolais Racing. A total €20,000 of prize money was split among the top 10 EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy teams at Sepang.
YART Yamaha took the win ahead of Honda Asia Dream Racing with Showa and BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team in Malaysia at the very first edition of the 8 Hours of Sepang, which proved to be a nerve-racking race due to very bad weather.
The race started shortly after 3pm in Malaysia. The 50 machines competing in the 8 Hours of Sepang had gone out on the track behind the safety car, but the race has been suspended.
Due to severe weather conditions, race direction has announced, in agreement with the team managers, a delayed start of the first edition of 8 Hours of Sepang.
The first edition of the 8 Hours of Sepang has all the hallmarks of a spectacular race: top riders, experienced teams, a compelling starting grid and a fantastic circuit. This exciting new FIM Endurance World Championship race gets underway at 1pm local time (GMT+8).
Yamaha Sepang Racing – tipped as one of the strongest front-runners – bore out their favourite status during qualifying.
