Team LRP Poland finished the 24 Heures Motos for the eighth time last weekend – thanks in part to the technical expertise of students from the University of Wrocław.
Bartłomiej Lewandowski’s BMW-powered squad gives young engineering students from the Polish institute the chance to learn new skills during highly challenging FIM Endurance World Championship races under the guidance of Marcin Kolanowski, Team LRP’s Technical Director.
With Pepijn Bijsterbosch, Julian Puffe and Dominik Vincon riding its Pirelli-shod BMW S1000RR, Team LR Poland finished 12th in the Formula EWC category in 22nd overall, scoring important points in the process.
Despite a crash on oil with two hours remaining, Team LRP Poland was able to complete 754 laps (3155 kilometres) and also used the opportunity to test its innovative front-wheel change system designed and manufactured by the students of the University of Wrocław.
“We’ve finished our eighth start in the Le Mans with mixed feelings,” said Lewandowski. “On the one hand we’ve done a great job. Our riders had great pace, the team worked faultlessly, and the bike never missed a beat. In the end we’ve finished the race and scored good points, even if we haven’t quite matched our best result ever of sixth in the class from last year.
“On the other hand, we were very unlucky, with an unavoidable crash through no fault of our rider, due to oil spilled on the track. We’ve lost a lot of time and a few positions because of that, which was quite disappointing, but we’re focusing on the positives and there are plenty of them. We’ll use that as a foundation for an even stronger effort in round two at Spa-Francorchamps in June.”

Students from the University of Wrocław are preparing for plenty of hard work in the FIM Endurance World Championship.
Team LRP Poland has once again recruited a group of aspiring technicians to keep it on track, starting with this week’s 24 Heures Motos in Le Mans.
They will work under the direction of Team LRP Poland Technical Director Marcin Kolanowski, who will oversee the squad’s BMW-powered EWC entry, which is headed by riders Pepijn Bijsterbosch, Dominik Vincon and Julian Puffe, who clocked the outfit’s fastest ever lap on Circuit Bugatti with an impressive 1m37.7s in First Qualifying on Thursday.
“It’s a big weekend and a new chapter both for the team and myself,” said Team Principal Bartłomiej Lewandowski, who is now focusing on his management role in addition to being the outfit’s fourth rider. “It wasn’t easy to find the optimum set-up in such changeable conditions and it’s already clear that it’s going to be a tough race but the entire team is doing a great job and we are looking forward to a strong weekend.”
