ERC-BMW Motorrad already out front
Rain disrupted most of the first day of testing for the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans. Even so, some the favourites managed to find their footing.
There were intermittent rain showers throughout the day at Le Mans. The 51 teams taking part in the 24 Heures Motos tests on the Bugatti circuit however used the first day of testing to fine-tune their settings in tricky track conditions.
Despite some minor spills, some of the favourites made use of the few laps run on a dry track to showcase their ambitions and their performance.
German team ERC-BMW Motorrad Endurance (Kenny Foray, Julien da Costa and Mathieu Gines) were a prime example, clocking the day’s quickest time, a 1:39.678, ahead of reigning champions and the 2018 24 Heures Motos winners F.C.C. TSR Honda France (Josh Hook, Freddy Foray and Mike Di Meglio), who set a lap time of 1:40.008.
VRD Igol Pierret Expériences, as the Viltaïs team (Florian Alt, Xavier Siméon and Florian Marino) are now known, have already made it into the leading trio with a 1:40.965 best lap, ahead of Team SRC Kawasaki France (Jérémy Guarnoni, David Checa and Erwan Nigon), who clocked 1:41.041.
The quickest Superstock squad on the track at Le Mans today were Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki (Louis Rossi, Hugo Clère, Alexis Masbou and Eddy Dupuy) with a 1:42.201 lap.
The second day of testing tomorrow (Wednesday) is expected to be rainy too.
