F.C.C. TSR Honda France takes provisional pole in Germany
Japanese team F.C.C. TSR Honda France has secured provisional pole at the 8 Hours of Oschersleben, ahead of Suzuki Endurance Racing Team and GMT94 Yamaha.
F.C.C. TSR Honda France, currently the leader in the 2017-2018 FIM EWC provisional standings, decided to go in all guns blazing from the outset at the 4th round in Germany. Freddy Foray, Josh Hook and Alan Techer set an average best time of 1:27.058, taking the Honda #5 to top spot in the first round of qualifying at the 8 Hours of Oschersleben. Their performance bodes well for the Japanese team, who will have to hold on to their lead of just one point over GMT94 Yamaha.
The action-packed qualifying saw some tenth-of-a-second margins – like the gap separating Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, the 2nd-fastest team in qualifying, from GMT94 Yamaha. The latter finished ahead of Team SRC Kawasaki and YART Yamaha. Just three-tenths of a second covered the first five teams!
NRT48 (BMW) confirmed its ambitions, placing 6th on the provisional grid, just ahead of Honda Endurance Racing and Bolliger Team Switzerland.
In 9th spot after qualifying, le Mercury Racing (BMW) has had to rejig its line-up with Sylvain Barrier shoring up Karel Hanika (very quick in his session) following Jakub Smrž’s crash. Smrž sustained an injury and is not expected to race.
Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences is the first of the Superstocks in 10th place on the provisional grid, ending the day ahead of No Limits Motor Team (Suzuki) and Tati Team Beaujolais Racing, the leader of the provisional Superstock standings.
The second round of qualifying takes place at 11am CEST tomorrow (Friday) on the Motorsport Arena in Oschersleben.
