Four hours into the race in the sunny south of Portugal, GMT94 Yamaha is leading the fray, ahead of Suzuki Endurance Racing Team and F.C.C. TSR Honda.

The start of the second round of the FIM EWC championship was marked by an out-and-out battle for the lead. Kawasaki SRC sprang into the lead from pole, but Gregory Leblanc had to cede his place at the end of his stint due to his tyres losing grip. From then on the lead swapped back and forth among Team April Moto Motors Events, with the always impressive Gregg Black in the saddle, GMT94 Yamaha with a razor-sharp David Checa, and Suzuki Endurance Racing Team with a hell-for-leather Anthony Delhalle.

Then GMT94 Yamaha and Suzuki Endurance Racing Team got into a fierce duel to take the lead at the 12 Horas de Portimão. Behind them, Team SRC Kawasaki and F.C.C. TSR Honda were locked in another battle. But after a delay due to running out of fuel, SRC Kawasaki has now dropped back to 16th.

F.C.C. TSR Honda managed a great climb back up after getting off to a badly-judged start. YART Yamaha Official EWC Team had the same problem, but has now pushed its way up to 5th place.

Honda Endurance Racing, Maco Racing Team, Tati Team Beaujolais Racing (1st in the Superstock class), Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki (2nd Superstock) and Team April Moto Motors Events currently round off the top 10.

Three teams have already retired: Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences (gearbox issue), and Team 18 Sapeurs Pompiers and Team Sport Moteur Actif (both because of engine failure).
