The countdown to the 24 Heures Motos 2017 began earlier today, with two key events: a press conference to present the 40th edition (scheduled for 15 and 16 April) and the start of two days of preliminary testing, with the majority of the competing teams converging on the track.

The unprecedented turnout at Le Mans for preliminary testing earlier today echoed the record number of entries for the 24 Heures Motos 2017. 50 machines were on the track for the initial round of testing before official free practice gets underway on Thursday 13 April for the 60 competing teams. YART Yamaha Official EWC Team proved the quickest on the first day, clocking a 1’36.917 lap on the Bugatti circuit ahead of Team SRC Kawasaki (1’36.934), Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (1’36.977), Tecmas BMW (1’37.321), GMT94 Yamaha (1’37.364) and Honda Endurance Racing (1’38.069).

The fastest Superstock bikes were not far behind. L’Ecurie Chrono Sport turned in the top performance of the day with a 1’38.500 lap, ahead of Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences, which clocked 1’38.513.

There will be a second day of testing on the Bugatti circuit tomorrow (Wednesday).
