HONDA ENDURANCE RACING CHASING A PODIUM PLACE
7 hours into the race at the 12 Horas de Portimão, the leading pack looked to be settling into their positions. But race incidents and team ambitions are creating upsets.
While GMT94 Yamaha and Suzuki Endurance Racing Team are still waging a no-quarter-given battle for the lead spot, there’s a shifting scenario behind the two leaders. After a protracted battle with F.C.C. TSR, YART Yamaha Official EWC Team is now engaged in a duel with Honda Endurance Racing. A clutch problem slowed down F.C.C. TSR Honda, forcing them to make a prolonged pit stop. Another Honda then took over. Honda Endurance Racing, which had a hard time in qualifying, has obviously found a way to force its way back into the top of the standings. The Honda #111 ridden by Julien da Costa, Sébastien Gimbert and Freddy Foray is now in 4th place, ahead of Maco Racing Team and Tati Team Beaujolais Racing.
This puts the British factory-backed squad in a position to challenge YART Yamaha Official EWC Team for third place on the podium.
