With four months to go for the Suzuka 8 Hours, the Japanese factory teams are already gearing up for the action. Following Honda’s announcement that official team HRC is returning to Suzuka, Kawasaki has revealed that Jonathan Rea will be back with Team Green.

After finishing second at both the 2016 and 2017 Suzuka 8 Hours, behind the past three years’ race winner Yamaha Factory Racing Team, Kawasaki’s Team Green is determined to get the win in 2018. The Japanese factory squad announced at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show that it has signed up Jonathan Rea alongside Leon Haslam and Kazuma Watanabe, two of the riders who clinched the second place for Kawasaki in 2017.

Three-time FIM Superbike champion Jonathan Rea is perfectly up to speed with all the ins and outs of the Suzuka 8 Hours. He won the Japanese race in 2012 after finishing third in 2010 with F.C.C. TSR Honda.

Kawasaki’s last win at the Suzuka 8 Hours dates back to 1993, with riders Scott Russell and Aaron Slight.
