And the Slovakia squad will do so with an ace line-up consisting of Frenchman Enzo Boulom and Australian Anthony West, plus Hungarian youngster Bálint Kovács, who joins the team on a full-time basis after impressing during last September’s Bol d’Or as a late addition to its ranks.
“The composition of the team has great potential, all three riders have already worked with us, so we know what we are going into and what we have,” said Martin Kuzma, owner of Maco Racing Team. “We will definitely want to build on the best results of our team and our goal is to improve them even more.”
Maco Racing Team has claimed myriad podiums in EWC events and top-five finishes in the final world championship standings. It placed sixth in the classification for independent teams last season and was three times in the Formula EWC category top 10. Its Yamaha YZF-R1 will again carry the #14, while it has focused pre-season testing efforts on running in Spain.
Commenting following the completion of a recent multi-day test in Valencia, which took place in wet and dry conditions, 26-year-old Enzo Boulom said: “The sensations came back and lots of work was done. I want to thank Maco Racing Team for these early-season trials. These will get us on pace before the pre-test for the 24 Heures Motos.”
Kovács added: “Due to the changeable weather we tried dry and rainy settings. Even though it was my first big track ride this year, I did a good pace in both weather conditions. There were lots of positive experiences and we can’t wait for the 24 Heures Motos. The direction is good, but there is still a lot of work to do.”
As well as its EWC bid, Maco Racing Team will compete in the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship under the Maco Racing Team Alpe Adria banner. Czech Ladislav Chmelík and Slovakian Tomáš Svitok will compete in the Superstock 1000 class, while Lukáš Végh will represent Maco Racing Junior Team Alpe Adria in Supersport 300. Meanwhile, Matias Baláž and Simon Végh will ride in PW50, Lucián Végh in MiniGP 110 and Marko Kuzma in the Pitbike class within Slovakian International Championship. Enzo Boulom will also make selected Alpe Adria championship appearances.

Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team will defend its FIM Endurance World Championship crown carrying the number one on its R1.Although championship-winning teams usually use the number one during their title defence, it wasn’t previously an official requirement in the EWC – until the rules were updated for 2024.According to the regulations from EWC governing body Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, “the world champion of the previous season will wear number 1 during the current season”.However, in the event of YART being unable to defend its EWC title in 2024, it can revert to its traditional number seven in 2025 as “its former racing number will be protected during the period it wears the 1”, in line with the regulations.Marvin Fritz, who partnered Niccolò Canepa and Karel Hanika to the 2023 EWC title, said: “This is something we were dreaming of for a long time and we can’t wait to start the new season with the number one on our bike.”The 24 Heures Motos opens the 2024 EWC season at Le Mans in France from 18-21 April.
