Provisional pole and a new record for YART Yamaha

YART Yamaha Official EWC Team picked up provisional pole at the 24 Heures Motos ahead of GMT94 Yamaha and Tecmas BMW, with Broc Parkes setting a new record on the Bugatti circuit: a 1’35.966 lap.

Broc Parkes was the only rider to post a lap under the 1’36 mark today. The Australian rider shattered the previous record, set in 2015 by Sheridan Morais with a 1’36.578 lap. Together with Marvin Fritz and Kohta Nozane, Parkes placed YART Yamaha Official EWC Team on provisional pole, with an average best time of 1’36.402 for the three riders.

The Austrian Yamaha was ahead of GMT94 Yamaha, whose riders David Checa, Niccolò Canepa and Mike Di Meglio averaged 1’36.938 – a slight advance over Tecmas BMW (Kenny Foray, Matthieu Lussiana and Camille Hédelin), who posted 1’37.000.

Team SRC Kawasaki, le Suzuki Endurance Racing Team and F.C.C. TSR Honda rounded off the Top 6 after the first round of qualifying.

Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences clocked the best time in the Superstock class, with riders Axel Maurin, Bastien Mackels and Florian Alt. The Yamaha 333 placed 7th after qualifying, ahead of Honda Endurance Racing. The LMD63 team (Jules Cluzel, David Perret and Lucas de Carolis) and Moto Ain CRT (Alexis Masbou, Hugo Clère and Robin Mulhauser) were the other two squads in the Superstock Top 3.

Several riders took minor falls in the course of the first qualifying, held in sunny weather conditions.

The second round of qualifying on the Bugatti circuit starts at 10.0am tomorrow.
