SRC Kawasaki topped the timesheets at the end of the morning’s free practice at the 24 Heures Motos. Lapping on a dry track, SRC Kawasaki was ahead of GMT94 Yamaha, Penz13com BMW Motorrad, Team R2CL and YART Yamaha.

These were the only five teams to complete a lap under the 1’39 mark. With a lap time of 1’38.617, the SRC Kawasaki #11 set the pace, but the team manager is not entirely satisfied. “We really need to fine-tune the chassis settings” says Gilles Stafler. The GMT94 Yamaha came in just behind the #11, clocking a lap time of 1’38.706 at the end of the session. “We have a work plan” explains William Costes, race manager of the 94. “We validated our choices after the free practice”.

The Penz13.com BMW Motorrad recorded its fastest lap of 1’38.827, just ahead of Team R2CL’s Suzuki, which looked to be in fine fettle, lapping 1’38.839 to come in ahead of the YART Yamaha (1’38.916).

The Suzuki Endurance Racing Team placed 6th, with a lap time of 1’39.217. “We’re still working on the settings” was SERT manager Dominique Méliand’s laconic comment.

The first qualifying is taking place this afternoon. Meanwhile, it has started raining in Le Mans.
