Hats off to Vincent Philippe! The SERT rider completed his first Enduropale du Touquet, one of the toughest beach races ever.

Vincent Philippe has racked up ten endurance world championship titles with the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, but he’s always up for a different kind of challenge. After trying his hand at ice racing, this past weekend he was in Le Touquet in northern France for his very first Enduropale, widely considered one of the toughest off-road races on the sand.

Vincent finished a very respectable 226th out of a total of 855 riders who made it to the finish line. He completed all nine laps on the punishing sand track of Le Touquet beach. Belgian rider Daymond Martens won the three-hour race.

I’m happy with the result,” Vincent said, “but I need to work on my riding skills. I had just three days of training on the actual sand … it wasn’t quite enough. But what a challenge, and what an experience! I’ll have to come back.”

Vincent will be back in his natural habitat, riding the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team’s new GSX-R 1000, on 15 and 16 April at the 24 Heures Motos.
