YART Yamaha Official EWC Team has already gone on the warpath at the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring. The Austrian squad smashed the lap record set by Lukas Pesek (2’04.577) at the 2016 Alpe Adria championship. Broc Parkes completed a fastest lap of 2’04.372 in free practice, the first official test at the Slovakia Ring. Broc Parkes, Marvin Fritz and Kohta Nozane are clearly targeting a win.
As expected, Team LRP Poland proved to be a serious contender for victory, posting the second-fastest lap in free practice: a 2’04.753. The riders of the team’s BMW are Markus Reiterberger, Michal Filla and Jaroslav Cerny – Slovakia’s top rider, who is keen to shine on his home circuit.
F.C.C. TSR Honda posted the third-fastest time (2’05.336), just ahead of GMT94 Yamaha, EKO IV Racing BMW CSEU and Maco Racing Team – the latter two, a Czech and Slovak team respectively, will also want to put on a good show for their home crowd, with a large turnout expected this weekend.
Eva RT Webike Trick Star placed 7th in free practice ahead of the fastest Superstock team, Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences, which will have to go all out in Slovakia to win the FIM EWC 2016/2017 World Cup, to be awarded Saturday evening on the Slovakia Ring.
