YART Yamaha in the lead

The Yamaha clan were in control right from the start of free practice this morning on the Bugatti circuit. YART Yamaha Official EWC Team posted the best time, ahead of GMT94 Yamaha and Team SRC Kawasaki.

The 24 Heures Motos qualifying, scheduled to start at 3.40pm today, is shaping up to be historic. YART Yamaha Official EWC Team had already beaten the race’s best-ever qualifying performance by the end of this morning’s free practice. The Austrian factory squad composed of Broc Parkes, Marvin Fritz and Kohta Nozane posted a fastest lap of 1’36.503. YART Yamaha Official EWC Team were just ahead of GMT94 Yamaha, who clocked 1’36.775 with David Checa, Niccolò Canepa and Mike Di Meglio, and Team SRC Kawasaki, who posted a 1’36.901 lap event even though Mathieu Gines took a toss towards the end of the session.

Tecmas BMW’s Kenny Foray, Matthieu Lussiana (standing in for Lukas Trautmann, who had a medical problem) and Camille Hédelin were close behind, posting 1’37.439 to come in ahead of Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (1’37.544), Honda Endurance Racing (1’37.895) and F.C.C. TSR Honda (1’38.031).

Team 33 Accessoires Louit Moto was the top Superstock in free practice, with Corentin Perolari, Wayne Tessels and Guillaume Antiga’s 1’38.174 lap placing them ahead of Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences and the Ecurie Chrono Sport.

The first qualifying this afternoon will provide clues to the race line-up. The average best time of the three riders in each team will be used to draw up the provisional starting grid of the 40th edition of the 24 Heures Motos.
